The weather plays a huge part in how we farm and we have no control over it. We have to react to quickly to changes in the forecast and also change future plans according to historic conditions. Even local conditions can be very different with rain falling on one of our farms but not another.
As part of the AHDB Strategic Farm program we have installed a Davis weather station to record long and short term rainfall, wind speed, gust and wind direction, temperature, solar radiation, evapotranspiration and soil temperature and moisture at 6 different depths. There are also plans to add a second soil temperature and moisture probe at a different location in a different soil type. To view the weather data click here
